On September 12th (2024) Desi Dobreva and Desi Hristova visited the Bulgarian Cultural and Information Center (CIC) in Skopje to mark the beginning of the new school year at the Bulgarian Sunday School “Zdravei.” The duo delivered an engaging interactive lecture titled “The Musical and the Presence of Folklore Within It,” blending artistic insight with captivating live performances.
In addition to curated video and audio examples, the singers brought the topic to life with their own live renditions. The event featured a hands-on workshop where children explored the creative process behind crafting a children’s musical. Armed with their drawings for set design, a few costume accessories, and traditional Bulgarian folk songs, the young participants recreated the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tale “Little Red Riding Hood” in a delightful and imaginative way.
The festivities concluded with all attendees—children, parents, and organizers—joining hands for a traditional Bulgarian horo dance, closing the celebration on a joyful and united note.
